Sky hub 4 still a problem,

Hi , so I am back in the circle of doom as regards the sky hub 4 - sr203 model, ,

Do we know if sky have a better product out to rectify the hub 4 issues as regards the drop in speed when connected,

I have voip phone and fttc copper line still , still waiting for fibre ,

Or a 3rd party router that will work with voip and a openreach copper line , I also have sky Q so can't use the home hub 5 (white hub) as the mesh systems are not compatible.

Have you specifically been told you can't have sky max

How many sky minis do you have

Re: Sky hub 4 still a problem,

Hi , so I have 2 mini boxes off my sky q box and they are fed over wifi , , when I contacted the sky technical department he said that the mesh system is not compatible,  they would crash , , , so to be honest I gave up trying to fix this a while back but it's dropping out now so need to do something,  openreach just left and their tester is reading 37 Meg,  I was down to 20 Meg when the hub is contacted,  , may have to go back to BT as their hub was more stable ,

Yep , the plume mesh can only cope with 1 mini plus the main q box

Leave it with me and i'll tag a community manager on our hidden board

Re: Sky hub 4 still a problem,

Hi that would be fantastic,  to be honest I am at a loss , I have had 9 openreach engineers in 3 years and just as many sky engineers,

All because of the sky hub 4 sr203 model,  they have a known software fault that they are unable to fix and I know this as I had a conversation with a sky technical chap who has left sky ,

Tricky one .  The sky q and minis require both 2.4ghz and 5ghz to function when sky is your isp so any other isp or a 3rd party router will only use 2.4ghz. You could set up a mesh using asus wifi 6 routers in a mesh and from each mesh node ethernet them to the main sky q and each mini in an wifi-ethernet bridge to make the sky q and minis think they are on an ethernet connection all the way

On reading back with fttc you would need a modem bridge or simply retain the sky hub for wan, dhcp and nat and ethernet an asus to the sky hub.  Then the asus can be set up in access point to the sky hub and each mesh node set up in aimesh node and then each of the access and aimesh nodes etherneted to the sky q set up . The asus can then talk wirelessly to each other to cover the house in wifi.  Hope that makes sense

Re: Sky hub 4 still a problem,

Hi , going back to your question about the sky max hub , so I can put one of my sky mini boxes via a ethernet feed , so that would leave the sky Q box feed via a cable to the router and feeding 1 mini box via WiFi feed,  , do we know if the sky max box does not suffer from the same issues that the sky hub 4 box is suffering from ,

Re: Sky hub 4 still a problem,

Hi all , so sky are sending another hub 4.2 , lol , tried to get them to send a sky max hub but couldn't do that ,""the system says no""

So if I want to dump the sky hub 4.2 , their must be a hub that uses voip phone , or , I could dump the phone entirely just to get round the hub issue,  heĺllllllppppp

The Max Hub is the only other model which supports Sky Talk Internet Calls.  Non-Sky hardware will not do so even if equipped with a BT phone socket.

If you wish to use a different VOIP subscription service (and source your own compatible handset) then that could be used over WiFi or ethernet to another router.

Re: Sky hub 4 still a problem,

Hi , so the new hub4.2 will be here in the next hour , via dpd , if the bb is still reading the same details then I will ask for a sky max hub to see if that works ,

If not then I will dump the phone and look for a really good router,  ,

So the set up I have is sky Q with 1 wifi mini hub and one mini hub fed via a ethernet cable , and loads of bits via WiFi,  what would be the best router for around £100.00 iash that would work , , I am on fttc , so copper to the house.
