I will be moving from BT to Sky.
Thanks to this amazing forum I am aware I can claim up to £100 back in switching costs.
I will be selecting for example 23rd January (when I know i will be back home)
I have read different things .. BT say I must give them 30 days notice but i have seen on SKY site as i have BT FTTP already i dont need to as SKY will.
Leads to some questions!
So is it as simple as me ordering it for 23rd January and leave it for Sky to inform BT?
Will BT will stop my broadband on that day and SKY will start it not before?
BT will despite me tied in until 10th Feb process it and then charge my until 10th Feb?
Sorry for asking I just need it all certain in my head !

You would have to pay your final bill yourself and then give that evidence to Sky in order them to pay out in account credit for your move.
The 30 days is if you are leaving and don't have another provider lined up.

That's my fear. Pick an installation date of 24th January and sky switch me in 14 days... leaving me with potentially higher costs to pay. 😞

actually just looking at this I have just paid up to 20th December so if leave and join Sky I will get BT bill from 20th Dec to 10th Feb approx 2 months and at around £52 a month before vat (as they deduct vat on termination fee) that £100 you mentioned earlier would cover it.....
Can I ask.. the point of the installation date on booking. What is this for?

Find out more@aberdeen19032012 you will have to check BT's terms and conditions to be certain but normally the date is that of the service stopping which happens when Openreach switch you to Sky's service. There is normally a 14 day leadtime from Sky placing the order with Openreach and the switch happening.
The whole switch process is explained here https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/costs-and-billing/switchi...
