To get good internet to an outbuilding, I am considering getting a cat6 cable to the room, I had some questions I thought the community could help with 🙏
- the Sky extenders have and Ethernet port, instead of getting a new router, would the extender act as a wifi router?
- if so, would it try and act as a hotspot or would having the Ethernet override the hotspot?
- does the sky extender work with a network switch?
thanks

Q boosters, v1 Sky Broadband boosters and Max boosters have ethernet ports, v2 Sky Broadband boosters do not. They are not routers, and you would not want a router.

By definition a booster is a 'hotspot'

Yes

Thanks, so essentially I can connect via wifi to the extender once it's connected via Ethernet?

That's correct. Perhaps note that if you use Broadband Boost to request a booster there's no guarantee you wouldn't get a v2 without an ethernet port though, as that's the model likely to be in stock.
