Sky broadband superfast minimum speed guarantee
Hi, does anyone know what the minimum speed of sky broadband superfast? As I was told by a sky representative it was 15.8. My current speed is about 18 to 20, which sounds very low to me.

Re: Sky broadband superfast minimum speed guarantee
@stuartjl2000The minimum speed your line will support should be shown in your account, other customers will have different minimum speeds due to line conditions and length(mine is 55mbps).

Re: Sky broadband superfast minimum speed guarantee
@stuartjl2000 Minimum speed will be what your line can support, which will be different for other customers. It will always depend on distance from the nearest FTTC cabinet.
If you post the results from here https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome after removing any addres info, this will show what your line is expected to support speed wise.

Re: Sky broadband superfast minimum speed guarantee
When other factors such as cable quality are removed, FTTC ('Superfast') speed is almost entirely a product of the copper line length between the fibre cabinet (where the optical circuit ends) and the subscription address. The maximum speed for FTTC is 80Mbs, and declines rather rapidly.

Re: Sky broadband superfast minimum speed guarantee
The link which @GD1 posted above will typically give a cabinet name and ID number above the speed table: beyond that it takes some local sleuthing.
Unfortunately the Sam Knows website which was a useful resource for cabinet information appears to have been bought by CISCO.

Re: Sky broadband superfast minimum speed guarantee
Remember that you also need to know the length of the actual telephone cable run rather than the straight line distance to your address: these can be very different.
