Sky Router Keeps Losing Connection
We have Sky Broadband with a Sky Hub router, and since moving into our new flat 3 months ago, it has been consistently disconnecting at random times of day or night. The usually green lights on the hub turn orange, and the connection drops. It then reconnects itself after usually a few minutes.
We have had sky and Openreach engineers come and check the connection, with both saying there was no visible issues, and have been sent a new router by sky, and still get the same issues. I have changed the cable to a higher quality one, and have disconnected our smart thermostat and moved the router to a different location and nothing has worked. I can send logs if that would help, but it won't let me paste them here as it has too many repeate characters.
I am hoping someone has an idea as to what this could be because we are at our wits end! My partner works for sky so we get a discounted rate, so moving ISP would be a last resort, but as I work from home I really can't have the wifi dropping in the middle of meetings like it has been! (the second I pushed send on this post it went down again!)

Re: Sky Router Keeps Losing Connection
If the hub's broadband light turns orange this suggests the line is dropping. If you have had Openreach out to look at this and they cant find an issue then you may struggle to find a resolution as these intermittent drop faults can be hard to pin down. Are you on FTTC or FTTP?

Re: Sky Router Keeps Losing Connection
We have FTTC I believe. They mentioned something about copper wiring, but yeah openreach and sky have both been out and done diagnostics, but they only checked it when it was working, they didn't see it when it was down. The logs say we are getting DSL link drops, but that doesn't really give any more clues.

Re: Sky Router Keeps Losing Connection
Yeah copper would be FTTC. Its possible Openreach dont want to investigate too much because copper is being phased out in favour of full fibre. Openreach seem reluctant to investigate intermittent faults

Re: Sky Router Keeps Losing Connection
I have tested with the adsl filter now with the test socket, and it still goes down periodically, so it must be the lines! We have an engineer coming out on Friday again so hoping they are able to figure it out🙃🫡

Re: Sky Router Keeps Losing Connection
Just want to update this post to say that we seem to have solved it! The engineer came on Friday and he was amazing, he went up the telephone pole and said some of the wires were a bit loose, so he fixed them and we haven't had an issue since! So a lesson to keep pestering until all the connections get checked😂
