Sky Max Hub - very poor wifi coverage

As above, new installation of Sky Max Hub with 900mb broadband. WiFi coverage outwith the two downstairs rooms is really poor, one bar showing and a simple webpage can easily take 30 seconds to a minute to load if it does at all.

Bought a new TP Link RE550 AC1900 WiFi extender hoping to resolve this, however it does not find the 5Ghz channel during setup and choosing 2.4 doesn't resolve the issue of the speed being poor.

On review of the forum I see that this is a known issue and despite the assurances of TP Link that it will work, I'm currently a bit stuck. Any idea of a solution please?

@BGSGGOW using third party range extenders with the Sky Max hubs often hit snags the msin one is the Sky hub will use a range of 5GHz channels which many WiFi 5 units do not support. Given thst there is no manual control over the channel the Sky hub uses performance is unpredictable. The pods that Sky supply as part of the WiFi Max bundle link using a closed 5GHz signal from the hub.

If you can link your TP-Link unit by ethernet it should work.

Re: Sky Max Hub - very poor wifi coverage

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, given the location the Sky router was installed in, using an ethernet cable to connect the extender to the router isn't an option.

@BGSGGOW TP-Link fo sell lowerline network adapters that use the mains wiringto carry the signal. My own solution is to use a Deco muktiunit system to providex WiFi through out my home.
