Sky Max Hub clicking noise
Hi there
Received my new Sky Max Hub a few days ago. Happy with the speeds, but the router has a clicking noise every few seconds. Quite annoying as I sit next to it a lot of the day.
I've seen others have this issue online, but no one seems to have a solution for the Sky Max Hub (the option to change to WANoE only mode is not present on the Sky Max Hub). Does anyone have an alternate solution?
Many thanks 🙂

Re: Sky Max Hub clicking noise
@Chrischev Is your Sky Max hub connected to a DSL or a WanOE circuit? As the mode for auto operation is supposed to take care of the switch one/other does seem that there is a problem, other advice has been to just get the hub replaced. SR203 is easy enough to change, and have NO experience on the SR213, is there NO partial web manager interface to that hub at all?
That's the problem with apps and hubs, is there anyway you may have to contact sky to see if they can access and look see. but it will be for sure the DSL relay clicking on/off as it does not know what to do!

Re: Sky Max Hub clicking noise
Thanks for your detailed reply 🙂
Well the router is plugged in via the 4th ethernet port labeled WAN, so I guess it is on the WANoE circuit?
I have logged in to the router (192.168.0.1) and looked for the setting i spoke about, but it is not there. And no luck in the My Sky app either.
Apologies if my language is incorrect, not the most knowledgeable about routers.

Re: Sky Max Hub clicking noise
@Chrischev You will soon find out! Just power it up first at the side wait 5 miniutes as not connected will show you the indication, then listen if you hear any clicking going on....

Re: Sky Max Hub clicking noise
Did you get your replacement router? And did the new one also tick?
Everything I have read suggests that the reason for this is simple: You are using WANoE, and the router keeps trying to reset the DSL connection. Every time it resets - it ticks.
On the older Sky router, you could change the Router mode to WANoE only, so it stopped doing this. But the SR213, and it's mobile app only advanced settings management (which is a downgrade in every way from just being able to do it on your desktop!) removes or hides this setting.
I'd love to know if a replacement router doesn't have the same problem, because then I'll be asking for one too. Mine has been ticking for a year since I first upgraded!

Re: Sky Max Hub clicking noise
I did indeed get a replacement, but it still ticked away. Very annoying. Just learned to live with it.
Let me know if you ever find a solution 🙂
