Sky Hub + Multiple Sky Stream Pucks with ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh

Hello,

Just recently bought Sky Broadband Gigafast and Sky Stream + two pucks. I currently have two ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 at home that I used previously, I am wondering if there would be any issues with me continuing to use these as part of a mesh network with the hub/pucks?

I have seen some forum posts about the pucks not playing nicely with certain devices, I am wondering if it would cause interference with connecting all the devices to the XT8 rather than using the Sky Hub? Or whether I could use the Sky Hub and XT8 together to stream to the puck boxes around the house without issue.

There is no requirement for the Sky Hub when using Sky Stream or Pucks.

-------

Zen internet on FTTP (900Mbps down, 100Mbps up). SAT> IP (Apple 4K 2nd gen TV to LG C1 OLED UHD TV/Dolby Atmos Denon AVR, DacMagic Plus for Hi-Res audio), hosting own blog/forum (cluster), OPNsense & Zenarmor L4/L7 NGFW & DPI IDS/IPS, Asus ET12 Pro Tri-Band wifi, Linux, Gamer: Xbox Series X/i7 laptop, round-robin DNS over HTTPS, non-proprietary VoIP HD AMR-WB (G.722.2) and more... Beta tester Apple iOS/watchOS/tvOS/iPadOS/macOS.

If you are not interested in using the Sky VoIP system then you can connect the main Asus XT8 to the ONT directly. Sky uses DHCP Option 61 and DHCPv6 PD to authenticate with Sky's backend. And the DHCP Option 61 field should contain 'anything@skydsl|anything' without the single quotes.

Thanks for reply, I will look towards replacing the Sky Hub with the ASUS XT8 directly onto the ONT as soon as they arrive.

Just one more question, do you know if the Sky Stream and Pucks have any dependencies on the Sky Hub Provided? Or will the ASUS XT8 once set up and configured be able to handle all the streaming and talking to Sky's backend/services?
