Sky G.Fast ?

I asked recently about my order for Ultrafast 150 and whether i would Need OR to run the fibre from the pole to the house first, since then i have recieved the email order confirmation and it says it is for Ultrafast 150 Part Fibre, this plus being told by the Sky agent that it will only need the OR engineer to connect it up in the house makes me wonder if it is actually G.fast that i will be getting

i am about 50 mtrs from the cabinet which is G.fast enabled but i thought G.Fast had been gradually rolled back and was no longer offered so i am curious to know if Sky are still offering it, nothing was mentioned when ordering i was just told it would be Ultrafast 150.

Ultrafast 150 can be delivered over G.fast and Sky appears to be one of the last remaining ISPs to still resell broadband connections using that technology.  Nationally G.fast ceased expansion in about 2019 and is gradually being over-written by FTTP, but still works in the areas where it was deployed.

As you can see in that result, FTTP is not available but G.fast is.  Sky has never resold the 300Mbs version of G.fast though, despite your address being in theoretical range.

The g.fast status is green with no full fibre soany isp can legitimately offer it . At least it should give you ultrafast until full fibre arrives

There's no longer a separate Openreach modem for G.fast:  the Sky Broadband Hub model 204 contains an integral G.fast modem (where the more usual 203 does not)

The newer Max Hub isn't compatible with G.fast

Even better, i watched a YT video of a TalkTalk G.Fast install and the OR engineer installed a seperate Modem so i thought i would need that as well but if not then it one less thing to plug in.

As with vdsl initially openreach suppled various incarnations of the mt992 g.fast modem which has long since been discontinued
