Sky Full fibre installation
Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has any experience the issue I've got.
I've got full fibre with BeFibre currently, which is due to end. I initially was going to go with virgin media but then realised they'd need to install all their own equipment etc.
I decided to switch to sky taking out full fibre & a stream package thinking I already have the ONT equipment installed it would be an easy switch
I have an engineer visit 29/01 but yesterday receive a message that open reach don't have the equipment and an update will be provided 30/01. Sky still insist the engineer is to take place on 29/01 so I'm a little confused
thank you

Re: Sky Full fibre installation
@LEE9017 BeFibre are one of the many so-called Altfibre suppliers who lay their own fibre network.covering around 300k addresses it is a stand alone network that other isps cannot use. Sky only supply Broadband over the national networks from Openreach or City Fibres so one or other are coming to install new line and ONT to connect your property.
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Oh right okay thank you. Not as straightforward as I first thought.
Hopeully things will go smoothly for the sky engineer on the 29th.
obviously having stream tv & everything else in the home, I'm hoping there's little downtime

Re: Sky Full fibre installation
When I had mine installed (Sept 2024) I was told that Openreach would do the eternal bits with the cabling and box on the outside wall and then the Sky engineer would come and do the internal bits with the cabling from the box and installing the ONT and test the Sky Q equipment, including replacing the Q hub with the SR213. Neither happened on the original date, they were both cancelled by text on the day. Ten days later the Openreach engineer came and did the external and internal bits.. I changed the hub myself while he was doing the external bits. He did nothing to test the Sky equipment. He didn't even wait to see if the new phone line plugged into the hub worked. He just plugged the cables in and said if there's any problems to contact Sky.

Re: Sky Full fibre installation
That's kind of the worry for me. I need to try and organise time off work for the sky engineer and don't want to if they're not going to arrive or be charged for a missed visit if I'm not home. Or the engineer arrives and can't do much due to open reach update on 30/1. Just a little confused at the moment.
