Sky Broadband Hub SR203 on FTTC VDSL - SNR has increased

Hi,

I replaced my Sky Q Hub using the sky.com/skyhuboptions link several months ago. I have noticed over time that my SNR has increased from 6dB to over 14dB. The firmware version that my replacement SR203 currently has is 7.04.0205.R.

Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 20000

Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 79999

The above Line Rate for both the Upstream and Downstream does not fluctuate, even when the line drops during the morning or if the hub reboots.

Is my VDSL FTTC  connection still ok or is there a problem?

Because of the PSTN switch off in January 2027, what are my options?

I only have Full Fibre via Openreach and there are no other Full Fibre altnets available to me.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

@skyuser247 Would expect that you have a noisy copper fttc connection, symptom's will be instability and wan drops that are unexpected, you also could have internal wiring issues or a faulty Master socket / ADSL Filter going bad, etc.

What and where currently is the phone connected or if not using what is the light status for voice on the SR203 hub, Green/Amber would indicate a digital line, always out then no voice connection via the SR hub?

Any reason why you have not gone to a fttp connection yet? Pretty sure it has been well covered in all off the other post's with you!

I haven't switched over to internet calls yet, the phone is connected to the master socket which is a pre-filtered Openreach Master Socket 5C MK4.

There is no specific reason for me not migrating over to FTTP as I have been out of contract for quite some time now. All I have with Sky is Broadband and Talk.

@skyuser247 Got it, some prefer to stay on the old copper i had the same but was 40/10Mb/s due to the cabinet distance, now FF500 16 months now and never missed a beat on the connection, not using the landline phone and have removed all the sky gear 100% Asus with a little powerline from Tp-Link in the mix!

Even though i was like you same connection and same master socket type still had a few phone connection issues from time to time, and lack off the bandwidth was the main killer only, phone was always fixed promptly by sky remote reset when it happened but just had to go call them with the mobile instead!

@skyuser247 On your 5c Master socket do you have any extensions off the Master and if so was the wiring all sorted when that type socket was installed! Wiring does change slightly where there is NO need to use ADSL splitters on any extensions!

Stick this i a browser search to test, BT Line noise test will pop up the number to dial and listen for crackles etc!
