Hi, I received a replacement router and I'm setting it up. My previous router had a yellow cable that went from the open reach box to the 4th yellow port (wan). My replacement box has a purple cable which goes from my phone socket into the purple port. My question is which one is better and which should I be using.
Thanks

@Gill101 if you have an Openreach ONT with lights (ie full fibre) simply use the yellow cable you had before simply switch the hub over. If the cable is unusable any standard ethernet cable should work. The purple cable is only used for the old partial fibre services.

Re: Setting up replacement router
Thank you.
If I was experiencing issues, the reason for the replacement router, should they have sent me a new yellow cable as well?

Re: Setting up replacement router
@Gill101 in theory yes but given it is just a standard ethernet cable you can buy at most supermarkets etc if you think its damaged spend a few pounds and replace it saving several days messing around. The yelllow ends simpky make writing the instructions easier they do nothing.
