Separating wifi networks

I needed to separate the 2.4 and 5GHz networks so my solar inverter can communicate and was helped by Jonathan in customer service. My laptop and phone can only see one of them, the 2.4GHz, and cannot connect to my inverter. The 2.4 is renamed and both are unsyncronized. After selecting apply only the 2.4 can be seen on my phone. I tried removing the power from the router and turned back on but still no joy.

Thanks for any replies

Steve

Re: Separating wifi networks

@Steve742 If you are not seeing both of the ssid names then you have done something wrong, go back and look at the 2 screens, both the 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz screens.!

Re: Separating wifi networks

My TV can see the 5GHz network ok.

My laptop can't but it is quite an old one.

Re: Separating wifi networks

@Steve742 If your laptop does not support a 5Ghz wi-fi chipset, then you will NOT see the 5Ghz name on that device!

Edit:- and your TV should see both the names.....

Re: Separating wifi networks

Had a visitor to my house this morning and their new I phone could see both networks so nothing wrong with the separation. Sorry for wasting people's time and thanks for the replies that I received.
