SOGEA availability in a Full Fibre priority exchange area

BTW-Checker-Details.jpgHi,

I am on the part fibre legacy package Sky Fibre Max, synced at 80/20. I am using a Sky Q Hub, model ER110. I have a few questions pertaining to the digital switchover and ‘Internet Calls’.

Questions

Will I get the Sky Broadband Hub - SR203 as a replacement if I just ordered it without upgrading my package as I am an existing customer currently on a rolling contract.

If I upgraded to Full Fibre, would I only be able to get the Sky Max Hub (white) by subscribing to the Wifi Max addon?

I am in a Full Fibre priority exchange area and SOGEA is available via exception only (screenshot attached). Does this mean that when I have to transition to ‘Internet Calls’ will I also have to be upgraded to Full Fibre?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

@skyuser247 going by your scren shot if you order a new contract you will be switched to a full fibre service as Openreach will not accept a new partial fibre service order even if youbwanted one. Your phone srrvice will switch to a digital service where your phone connects to the hub rather than the phone sockets as Openreach intend to turn off the old analogue phone service in 2027. The only reason you would not be switched would be if you have a care alarm or similar that uses the old phone lines.

The fibre install looks to be a simple one stage process running the new fibre cable from a nearby overhead pole.

Re: SOGEA availability in a Full Fibre priority exchange area

@skyuser247 Yes new SR203 Black router, SR213 White Sky Max and subscription if you wish to pay the extra, ER110 is dead duck on FF no method off connecting that and being replaced by sky free off charge if you have had the notification from them as security issue and going out off support, Exceptions are for VDSL lines, nothing to do with the FTTP. So slam dunk, just see if you can upgrade from your Sky account. Hope that answers, Chrisee covered the rest.

Re: SOGEA availability in a Full Fibre priority exchange area

Hi,

I know that this is a customer lead forum, but I have another few questions pertaining to the PSTN switch off.

If a customer does not have anything connected to the telephone line, does this mean that the migration from part fibre to Full Fibre will happen sooner rather than later, e.g. sometime this year?

If I replaced my Sky Q Hub without changing my Sky Broadband package - would I be able to keep my existing part fibre broadband for the time being until I have to migrate to Full Fibre?

If I did order a replacement hub and received the Sky Broadband Hub SR203 - would I be required to migrate to Full Fibre because the SR203 and SR213 have a telephone port for ‘Internet Calls’

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

@skyuser247 You wrote and answer below.

No the FF is area and controlled by the companies wishing to do so, The remote areas may never even get fibre but some other method and time is adjusted and variable.

Sky Q hub owners and earlier models are being advised at present Dec 2025 is the cut off date, replacements from sky are Free of charge.

The area if not Full Fibre then copper caries on as normal, if available NO choice but to change, THERE is zero give or take apart from certain medical criteria.

If I did order a replacement hub and received the Sky Broadband Hub SR203 - would I be required to migrate to Full Fibre because the SR203 and SR213 have a telephone port for ‘Internet Calls’

You will not be forced onto FF if not available, the SR203/213, will be connected though to digital even over a copper line and you will go internet calls, but again this is OR equipment and Sky equipment dependent... So not 100%

If anything missed or uncertain post up.

@skyuser247  The change of router will not affect your connection. Have you looked into when your exchange is likely to be going full fibre?

If someone has helped give them Like.

If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

The current target is for 85% of UK addresses to be within reach of FTTP by the end of December 2026.  The remaining 15% are currently deemed to be not commercially viable (meaning the capital cost of getting optical cable to them exceeds all future rental revenue) and at present it's assumed that these will need to use either cellular or satellite connections to get better data rates than they have now.

Note that being within reach of full fibre still doesn't mean there's necessarily any compulsion to switch over to it: this may have to happen at some point later though because the already aging copper infrastructure will continue to degrade and Openreach aren't going to want to keep it going forever.
