Router package opened

Hi, I had my router delivered by Royal Mail. The temper seal on the package was opened. Upon contacting Sky customer services, I was shocked to hear that, Royal Mail often does that. I am now returning that router, has anyone experienced similar issue?

What would be a concern about that?

A worry about security isn't realistic unless the recipient has seriously upset a state-level entity, and if that's the case then any tampering is rather unlikely to be obvious...

Re: Router package opened

Worrying factor is someone has mac address and other information. Yes i will be able to change ssid and password etc.  But the point is, the package has been opened. I was expecting RM will scan the items rather than opened them.

MAC address isn't relevant outside the local network.  Default WiFi password is obviously exploitable by someone within wireless range if not changed by the user.

I'd agree that there's no legitimate reason for RM or a courier to open a package unless they are contracted by the consigner to carry out a doorstep swap.
