Replacing sky hub with router
Before posting this, i have searched this forum high and low for answers to no avail.
Ive come from virgin media which allows modem mode. Sky doesn't.
I would like to use my router due to current poor WiFi range and more customisation on my network.
My router is asus RT-AX82U v2 and I have fttp
Steps ive taken:
-plugged my router into the ONT box directly.
-Set my router in wireless router mode,
-enabled option 61 and set username as anything@skydsl|anything
-I dont have option for vlan so ive had to put 101 in "VID" under IPTV settings in router
I live in UK so I wouldn't be using a pppoe connection as far as I understand.
My router reports that there is a problem with dhcp and I cant connect to the Internet.
Ive switched off the ONT and router for 30 minutes and tried again but its not helped.
Please could anyone provide advice?

Re: Replacing sky hub with router
@Frezli Pictures will get through once they are cleared, based on my XT8 but will be very much alike settings wise!
Please note that i am not using the option 61 parameters as do not require through my fttp connection!

Re: Replacing sky hub with router
Your advice worked. Thank you
All the posts I could find were saying add option 61...
deleted the option 61 as you mentioned, removed vid 101 from lan > iptv and it works
Copied your settings in the screenshots which were very helpful

Re: Replacing sky hub with router
@Frezli I do need to update this picture sometime but my DNS server is now pointing to google on 8.8.8.8 from the settings and no longer using the sky default DNS! Cannot remember when i change it long time ago now, but the sky DNS was oops for some reason so jumped on changed it and have just left it there!

Re: Replacing sky hub with router
Morning
A friend of mine is replacing his Sky router today with a unifi router. Im a bit confused regarding the screenshots and the settings he will need for his router?
He has an ONT on the wall into his current Sky router.
Can you advise what he will need to set please?
Appreciate your help, thank you 🙂

Re: Replacing sky hub with router
@andyGleeds as your friend has a different router to the one in the earlier posts the pictures wont help. There are two ways Sky authenticate the connection the easiest is DHCPv6 PD which the Unifi router should support and he maybe lucky the router will connect when plugged in. He may have to set the router to use that setting I have no experience on Unifi routers.
However around 20% of Openreach lines dont support that method in which case he needs to use DHCPv4. Optiin 61 with a log-in string of anything@skydsl|anything that will be have to be set up in the settings somewhere but as far as I am aware Unifi offer that option.
