Really poor broadband speeds

For the last week my broardband speeds have been fluctuating wildly between 18-20mbps to less than 100kbps.

This is continuois and can go from 18mbps to 100kbps in a fraction of a second. It makes using the broadband virtually impossible as most of the time it's at the lower end.

Using the Sky checking facility I've had varying results, if it catches a "high" speed the checker tells me everything is OK, if it catches a slow speed nothing happens as the slow speed stops the check.

Today I've finally established (using the Sky speed checker) the problem is with the "hardware" so I suppose that means the hub.

Having established what the problem is I can't get anything done about it because Sky won't let you talk to them, you can't email them and you can't have a "live" chat. You can speak to a bot that takes you round in circles and then hangs up or you can "chat" to a bot that does the same.

Has anyone found a way to make contact with Sky?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@foxwater1 they are several thousand Sky agents taking calls all day so it is possible to talk to them but lines are pretty busy so it takes patience.  Stay on the line dont accept offers of texts etc. if asked to explain why you are calling say something like "to report a technical fault"

Re: Really poor broadband speeds

Hi Chrisee Thanks for the posting. I've tried every phone number I can find for Sky including the 150 number which everyone says should get me through to a real person but none of them do now. I think the thousands of people that used to answer the phones have been replaced by one automated system that answers all of the phones and has the same circular instructions.
