I've plugged in the TP link. Unfortunately, the settings under quick setup in the latest firmware no longer have a "No I want to configure the internet connection myself" option.
I also can't connect to the internet when selecting Sky_VDSL.
Are we sure that's what I want and not Sky(MER)_VDSL?
In my router stats above I can see MER mentioned 🤔
Unfortunately MER wants a username and password 😔
Any suggestions @cookiemonsteruk ?

Yes you need sky vdsl. If you choose sky mer vdsl the that would mean the asus would just be an access point
The mer option has to be on the asus ie anything@skydsl|anything

So I have set it as VDSL (no MER).
(the modem has no connection)
Do you know what the setting would be named that I should look for to set the MER on my ASUS? @cookiemonsteruk

It would be named "client identifier (option 61)
You may have to update it initially etherneted to the sky hub

Perfect, I can see that option. Does it matter what I use to auth? What are the credentials?
Also, should I tick the "IAID/DUID" box for option 61?

So far, I followed the instructions for the TP link (as closely as possible) and end up with this: (Selecting Sky_VDSL) (The bridgemode options dont seem to be in the FW anymore)
Then I connect to the ASUS UI and setup the wan settings like this:
Unfortunately, still no internet 😥

Where it says aggressive change to normal
And mtu needs set to 1500

Not working so far.
I am wondering if it's because the tp link can't be put into bridge mode? Maybe I should try installing older firmware onto it?

put it into bridge mode

Yeah, am aware of this, this is because when you follow the
"How to setup TD-W9970 Router in Modem Only Mode?" instructions from TP link as shown here:
It doesn't provide the bridge mode option.
I have since found out if you select "Other" from the ISP list, you are presented with
this, but unfortunately, this means I haven't selected Sky as the ISP, so it may not work.

I have it in bridge mode now!
However, with these router settings I still have no internet:
Are there other settings I will need to change?

I have it working!
Here are the steps for others who may be struggling to set the TD-W9970 into bridge mode:
Select Quick Setup and select your region and timezone.
When prompted to enter ISP details, select OTHER (Regardless of if you are with sky or not)
In "Internet Connection Type" Select Bridge.
Tick the Vlan ID box, and set VLAN ID to 101
Finally, go to Advanced, and disable the dhcp checkbox under the LAN settings.
Then set your router settings to Automatic IP for connection type (Not static or the other options)
Find some setting that is a MER setting, or something that mentions Option 61, and type anything@skydsl|anything (swap the anything for whatever word you want)
Set the "WAN MTU to 1500, and if there is a DHCP query frequency option, set it to normal mode.
The above worked for me, thanks to @cookiemonsteruk and @jamesn123 for helping out!

Slightly different instructions to the ones in the link. But the basics are the same
Disable 2.4 wifi
Disable dhcp
Set vlan to 101 and choose bridge mode. Well done 👍
