Problems working from home and doing video calling - sky hub 4.2

Just switched to Sky broadband, and started having issues working from home with zoom video calls. Kepp getting 'Your internet conneciton is unstable' messages on zoom, and then need to switch off video, and even then delays/lags in the call are noticeable. Connecting using a company laptop and using citrix to connect to my work remote desktop.

Are there any options on the router that I can tweak to improve things?

Any stats I can capture from the router to help diagnose where the issue may be.

My prior setup was VirginMedia using hub6 in modem mode to a ASUS AX mesh system - worked flawlessly for years. I have the sky hub 4.2 which doesn't seem to support modem mode. I am currently connecting to sky router via wifi as location is close enough to the sky router, but asus is plumbed in as AP (with a diffferent SSID) to support wifi to other parts of the house.

Have you tried connecting to the Asus AP instead? You've gone from using a pretty high spec WiFi system to using the default WiFi router from an arguably cheaper piece of ISP kit than Virgin provide. Its quite possible that the Sky hub is just not up to scratch for the WiFi environment in your home. Whats the connection strength like? Do other devices suffer issues?

Same issue if I connect via the ASUS. I assumed that a double hop through the ASUS then to the SKY router was part of the problem, so connected directly to the sky router's wifi.

General access to other devices (via ASUS wifi) seems OK for web access, streaming etc. Sky puck connected by ethernet to sky router has no issues. However, my son who's into gaming is away at Uni at the moemnt, so I expect much moaning once he's back if he getts the same issues.

Connection strength for mesh woifi as it was before. connection strength for sky wifi OK in a couple of adjacent rooms, but not good on other side of house (expected really as that's why we invested in mesh router in the first place).

I'd assumed that 'modem mode' isn't a standard feature, so surptrised (and annoyed that I didn;t check) that this is not the case here.

If all other devices seem fine and the coverage from your Asus system is the same as before then that would point to an issue with the device your using for work. Are you using any sort of VPN? If you connect the laptop via ethernet temporarily does the issue still occur?
