Problems with upgrading while still in contract

Hi, Just wondered if anyone has had the same problem when receiving an upgrade offer from sky for broadband while you are still in contract, that after taking it out you are told you have to pay a penalty for cancelling the contract you were on before upgrading. It has happened to me once before and took a lot of time and agro to get sorted.

I have received an email from sky about upgrading to fibre but after what happened last time and i am still in contract for Superfast Broadband until november 2025 i am hesitating to go ahead.

Upgrading mid-contract should never incur charges, it has never been like that.

That is what i thought, and speaking to an adviser they said the same thing but i still got emails saying they would be taking the ammount by my direct debit until after a lot of agro i managed to get it cancelled. After your comments as a Superuser saying it shouldnt happen, guess it is up to me to chance it or not.
