Hi all, been trying to get an old cctv system working on the internet for remote access but am unable to get port forwarding to work. We have had a new sky max hub which appears to be absolutely awfull with having to do everything through the app.
if anyone's got any advice as to why we cannot open ports please could they let us know. We are at our limit with sky and there locked down rubbish.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Kirkie the simplified port forwarding system for the new hub works for most people assuming you can select the device is that the issueyou are having?. One issue that is reported is older devices can have issues actually connecting by WiFi while backwardly compatable to most devices a few do object could that be the issue?
The trend to using apps to control routers is not unique to Sky and is largely driven by the security settings on modern browsers refusing to connectvto web sitescwithout full security certificates whichbthecweb servers built into routers can't deal with. Also the vast majority of users want simpler controls which does affect those who want greater control. It is highly unlikely Sky will revert to web control or add further control options going bybwhat little Sky havectold tge forummsuperuser group.
