Poor wifi signals throughout the house

Poor connectivity in the house which is 16 years old and in excellent condition. I've also got a Sky WiFi booster upstairs and even that makes very little difference. Extremely annoying as I work from home and other family members want to also use the WiFi and work hybrid. Is this a common thing with Sky Gigabyte connection? Is there anything I can do with any settings on Sky devices? Or is there anything Sky can offer me as a solution to my problem?

@rafia786 getting decent Wifi throughout a home often requires more than the free router Sky and other ISPs give out free. Boisters can help but oddly often can make things worse. First check the location of your hub and the booster are tge best you can get. Both need to be out in the open on a surface sbove obstructions like radiators. The booster will make things worse if it is placed to far from the hub as it can only provide speds of around 50% of its backhaul connection but given its strong wifi signal devices will connect to the even if a weaker connection to the hub is actually faster. Typically placing a booster in the hall or on a landing is best.

If you plan go work from home you may want to consider spending some money to get better WiFi especially if you work in a room far from where the hub is located. Several different options including Sky's own WiFi Max offering which can provide a new hub and up to 3 extenders which are smarter than the simple booster you have now.  Third party whole home wifi systems need not be expensive my own 3 unit Deco system costs £100 and gives me decent wifi (overcq50Mb/s) in every room in a 3 level home. Powerline Networks are another solution especially for a home office well away from the hub as these use mains wiring to carry the signal.

Re: Poor wifi signals throughout the house

Hi Chrisee

Many thanks for responding back. The house is a normal sized 4 bedroom houose and the "office" of mine is not too far from the Sky router and both router and booster are above ground and away from other metal objects.

I'll defo look into contacting Sky about the Max you detailed below to see if they can offer the solution as described, if they don't, I'll look into the Deco unit. Re Powerline Networks, it was Sky themselves who told me not to used them as they interfere with their Sky kit. I did use to use them before Sky told me to invest in their booster.

Thanks again
