We're only other customers here, like yourself.
Is that the speed as recorded by the router itself or tested via wifi?

'Superfast 35' is a 40Mbs wholesale service over FTTC, and is now the oldest and slowest broadband technology still in general use. It's susceptible to all the issues which can affect any individual circuit on the legacy copper network.

Through WiFi then (your smart phone maybe)?
The speed is only guaranteed to the router which usually translates to any wired devices, there's way too many variables for anyone to guarantee a speed over WiFi.

Ah, apologies, got you. You'd have to contact them I'm afraid although unless there is an unknown fault somewhere, no other Open Reach supplier will be able to better it I'm afraid. Is a 4G/5G broadband service a possibility for you?

Re: Poor speed way below guarenteed speed
No 5g around here .
You think in this day and age broadband would be sorted by now. I'm in a Norfolk town that's only got fttb yet you go to a small seaside Heacham village and they've got virgin full fibre.
I'll just have to put up with it I suppose.
Never had any problems when I was with now TV but hey ho that's progress for ya

Virgin puts down its own cabling: they don't use the national Openreach network. As such they can choose where they want to deploy their investment for maximum financial return.
The target point for the end of the commercial phase of the Openreach rollout is December this year, by which point full-fibre should be within reach of around 85% of addresses.

Maybe consider something like the National Broadband mobile 4G/5G broadband service, the 4G version is quite a reasonable cost even if you take their "Boosted" service which consists of an engineer fitting an external antenna pointing at your nearest mobile mast. That should give you at least 30-50Mbps.
