Re: Poor signal upstairs

@harryk49 Its all to do with the specifications off the two hubs the Plusnet verses the sky Max, you have went from Wi-fi 5 device to a Wi-Fi 6 device, and they are JUST not the same.

If you feel look this is not for me, then it's a call to sky, you would be far better with possibly the older sky SR203 Broadband Hub, but sky do NOT like going backwards with Equipment now that you have the Max!

Fully understand your comment and a sky engineer visit would help you detune the Max hub a little if it's not up for you to do! If you have family that can help, post back and advice will be given, it is just not everyones forte to get things sorted out! Just reverse you age numbers and that is me, so no longer a spring chicken myself!

Re: Poor signal upstairs

@harryk49 As you have the sky Max hub, but you may not have the addon guarantee you need to look at that on your bills, so if you do have it, then to get a wireless extender pod to boost into your upstairs rooms, YOU need to call sky and go through the testing procedure.

All the info links are below for you!

Re: Poor signal upstairs

No I haven't got the max extra which I believe costs £4 month I don't think it's fair that you have to pay extra to get a signal upstairs when before I had no problem and this sky deal is surprised to be a lot better than I had on Plusnet thanks for replying to me what should I do phone them up  regards harryk

Re: Poor signal upstairs

@harryk49 It's your choice, without paying the extra then sky may just not do anything for you, The Plusnet hub that you had is no where near as good as the sky Max hub, and a lot off people just do not understand that when you go up in spec as you have, then the distance is ONE off the issues that appears for pushing the wireless Wi-Fi signal around the home!

If i had a penny for everyone that complains about that then i would be a very rich man indeed and the sky Max does like to operate as clear and free as it can which in itself does not help the hub but great for not getting clashes off other Hubs that may be around!

Re: Poor signal upstairs

Thanks jimM1 my son might understand a bit more if you could tell me what's involved could I use my old Plusnet router instead would that work and would it be easy to do

Re: Poor signal upstairs

@harryk49 Now you are asking a question, the plusnet router is fairly configurable but not sure if it can be made to work on a sky connection, but will go have a look see for you! Post back whatever i find out on it! Do you have a landline phone connected to the back off your white Sky Max hub, that for sure is the very first NO to the plusnet! Let me know that.... Jim

Whats going on here...  @harryk49  got a white router without paying for the premium "Wi-Fi Max"  😰

Re: Poor signal upstairs

@Sayek Yes, some customers do appear to get the Sky Max hub only thrown in but NOTHING else so can be an issue when asked to stump up the extra to get the pod's and all that goes with it!

Re: Poor signal upstairs

@harryk49 Good on you, linked the older black SR203 Sky Broadband Hub 4.2 its called, you NEED a sky hub when you have a landline! It's a older may work better but also a you have to try to see, my original SR203 covered nearly the whole home but did eventually get a sky SE210 booster, had trouble with the position of my hub, and getting the signal into the bathroom, but brick wall, heavy door, tiles and now 12mm marine ply wet wall on it, so trust me wi-fi wireless signal from the hub was JUST not getting through that combo ever!!!! Booster out in the hall blasted through it no problems!
