Openreach keep turning up without an appointment

An odd problem to have but here's the bare bones. We ordered full fibre on 8th March to be installed late April (we currently have broadband with Sky) .
They needed to do some groundwork to install fibre so our date was pushed back to early May. Groundwork was done, fibre cable was run to the outside of the house ready for connection, all of this was done by the end of March.

 Openreach wanted to complete installation early April even though our current install date is 28th April,  but Sky haven't sent the hub yet so couldn't because we would lose the old broadband connection if they close the job and not be able to use the fibre. (Our existing hub is not fibre compatible). Openreach have since visited twice more opportunistically without an appt to complete the install but can't because the hub is still not dispatched.  
We have an appt for the 28th April and despite calling Sky and letting them know that Openreach have turned up 3 times now to complete the install without an appointment, wanting to complete the job, but they will not or cannot despatch the hub until a few days before the official appt. 
I do understand Sky working to the booked appt time but it's really frustrating knowing we could have fibre already if the hub had been sent and why Sky don't liaise better with Openreach. They could be charging us for fibre already and we'd be happy to have it  but instead cannot send the one piece of kit that is needed. 

I have called Sky a couple of times on this when Openreach have arrived without an appt but they say they can't send the hub and they can't change the appt to earlier- while I have got an engineer in the house wanting to do the job! 
Openreach are trying to be helpful and get the job done but all it does is cause frustration. 
just wondered if anyone else had had this sort of issue.

@VLCW we most normally hear about the oposite issue!. It is certainly odd why Openreach are coming to fit the ONT without an appointment as while the preliminary work can be done without an appointment the interior install normally requires a booked appoitment on their system.Can understand your frustration but doubt there is much that can be done.

It's so odd, as you say, it's normally the opposite that's a problem! 
The worst thing is every time Openreach attend they put an update on the call saying they can't complete and then Sky text us to rebook an appointment or they will cancel the order. When I call they say the appt is still booked for the 28th!!

The latest debacle in this saga (and I did speak to sky customer services about the original problem and they were very helpful). 

The hub had finally arrived and the appointment was scheduled for
 yesterday afternoon and I had  received multiple texts to confirm I still wanted to go ahead which I said yes to all....................

they didn't turn up, no communication, nothing so now I'm waiting to hear what will happen next as I have to give them 2 days to respond to me. 

so I took the day off work for nothing and am still no closer to the install.

 

our sky contract for everything ends in 2 weeks, depending upon what happens next I may well give up and move on, it is so disappointing after being a customer for over 25 years and supposedly a VIP. 

not looking for a response to this, just need to say it out loud as some sort of therapy and move on.
