Folks, there seems to be Sky contact centre issues so thought I would reach out on here.
I have full fibre broadband currently with Vodafone (Edinburgh, City Fibre). I made a decision based on price and speed to switch to Sky (I have their tv) and the installation is in a couple of weeks.
The City Fibre that was installed in our street a few years ago comes right up our garden, into a box on the outside of the house and then into the other box in the inside and connects to the router. However today, my wife says an Openreach engineer came and installed a line from the phone pole at the back of the house and connected it to a small box on the back of the house.
Feels awfully like a telephone line which i believe i do not need and ceetainly do not want. Surely Sky are just provding me with full fibre via the exisiting City Fibre infrastructure at the front of the house (maybe they have to change the vodafone boxes)? I believe i currently have access to FTTP not FTTC or Copper.
Am i going crazy or do Sky actually need to do something with a phone line first before installing the full fibre?
Hope someone on here may also have experienced this.
Cheers

@Andrew326 If you are in a Full Fibre area then it will be an Overhead Fibre supplied line from the OR Infrastructure, if they had that before, they do it the same way!
Check your Address from the BTW selection if 1000/220 is there and it will also say what you connection is below in the text! And NO CF is not available to sky everywhere that they have it out there. Because you have it does not 100% guarantee that sky has access to it!

Re: Openreach have installed a phone line (I think) for fill fibre
Thanks Jim, from what you are saying I'm not going to be getting what I think I've ordered if it's Overhead Fibre.
It says this:
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed with no anticipated issues.
FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.
As a fibre priority exchange, FTTP has priority over other products if available at the address

Re: Openreach have installed a phone line (I think) for fill fibre
@Andrew326 No you are wrong, you are getting a OR supplied Full Fibre connection from the Poletop to the Back off your house, with whatever speed package you ordered from sky another ONT, an new hub and anything else that you requested from sky. Yes OH is overhead, that is how my home is connected on the FF500 package but i did not allow them to come down the wall, instead it followed the route of the old telephone cable into the dormer void space, and ONT is fitted up there, i took care off the reset by running the Ethernet cable to my Router location!
What you are NOT getting is to use CF in any format!

Thanks Jim, not really how it was sold to me by Sky sales so might have a rethink. I've just had a look and yes Sky not on the list of city fibre providers.

Re: Openreach have installed a phone line (I think) for fill fibre
Is your box like this?
outside the house? And have you had a box like this installed in the house
if so then you have full fibre to the property, my fibre optic cable runs from the telegraph pole to the grey box outside the house and then the fibre optic cable runs from the grey box to the optical network terminal box in the house

Re: Openreach have installed a phone line (I think) for fill fibre
I had this installed in January last year, as far as i remember each house has it own connection point on a box box on the telegraph pole for full fibre broadband not like the old copper cables which are being withdrawn
