Openreach - Issue with Fibre Install

I've just joined Sky and Openreach came out yesterday to carry out the full fibre install to my property. 

New fibre and connection point installed externally, but the engineer said additional splicing works are required at the top of the telegraph pole to make the connection live.

Sky are coming out on Wednesday and I have no idea if these works will be complete prior to that, and this seems to be the only way to reach out!?

@Windsor1985 Even if it is not done by OR for the Internal part time wise, the copper connection should stay up fine, and once the pole CBT is spliced into a connection point and if OR did it all correct then your ONT will go live, they may revisit you to do a quick check or just inform sky you are good to go, the sky Engineer will have passed all the correct info regarding the ONT Details so in theory is should go smooth!

Also quite unusual to have high up splicing done but who knows what planning did! Just keep the ONT power and watch for the LOS that will be Red go out, and the PON goto a steady Green light!

We don't have an existing copper connection as we're with VM currently, so might be an issue come our go live date.

@Windsor1985 If you only used the OTS system, then VM connection will stay live until sky tell's them you are live on the sky system....

But if you cancelled VM by yourself then all bet's are off and VM will disconnect you without a doubt! Then it's a waiting game until OR splice and connect it all up, test and prove it's working end to end!

Oh dear, maybe I should have stuck with VM! 

Full fibre sounds great, but only as good as the street infrastructure upstream I guess! And looking at the state of some of the poles and their respective equipment, all quite shoddy.

@Windsor1985 Been on the FF connection now 15 months, and not one single problem with it at all touch wood! VM is also pole top with one connection on that, and my son's is the same one connection on his pole, VM has been live since Sept 2023, OR was 1 year later. OR will fill eventually, CBT is an 8 point, but the street ground works are a mess due to VM blocking the PIA duct's for OR so one side has had major issues and no doubt the plans are all up in the air until they get connected! That's a different story....
