Not asked for NI number
Nearlt two years ago I became aware i could apply for Sky's broadband social tariff due to being on full universal credit. Unfortunatley I was notified my application was unsucsessful for some reason. I Stayed with Sky broadband for £27.50 a month as I can afford this. Fast forward and my broadband is up for renewal, I spoke to a Sky person just now to either lower the renewal contract price (its being put up to £43) or to apply for the social tariff again as I am still on full universal credit. the lady has made the social tariff application but after googling what information is needed for this application, both times i have applied nobody has asked for my NI number. Im wondering if this is why my original application didnt work and if the application made this morning will work without my NI number. Sky has all my other details so this is the only reason why i feel i may be declined again.. should i have been asked for my NI number?
will my application gonthrough without it?

Re: Not asked for NI number
Sky does need the NI number to do a basic benefit entitlement check so it is likely that was the reason why the last one was rejected
Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 55 inch uhd tv, with Dolbyvision, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21
If I get it right mark as answered
If I get it wrong humour me
If I say something you like give a thumbs up

Re: Not asked for NI number
Thanks for replying. I can't understand why they haven't asked for it both times then, because without the number it's surely going to be rejected again. I'll see what happens this time, if it is rejected again I'll have to call them anyway to sort it as I can't pay £43 a month for broadband on its own and will let them know that my NI number wasn't asked for. Thanks again

Re: Not asked for NI number
You have to call Sky if you're eligible for Sky Broadband Basics.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-social-tariff
The Sky account holder needs to be claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance or Income based Employment Support Allowance. These are the only qualifying benefits and in order for Sky to carry out checks with DWP they will need your NI number. The social tariff is for Sky Broadband Superfast 35 with an average download speed of 36Mb/s and the Sky Talk Pay As You Go tariff (ie: all calls are chargeable). It does not offer a discounted Sky Talk plan.
Broadband Basics is only available to customers who already have Sky Broadband and to add the Sky Mobile offer, you’ll need to be taking Sky Broadband Basics, and:
a) Already have Sky Mobile and a 3GB data plan.
b) Or you can add a new 3GB data plan with Sky Mobile.
If you are eligible you’ll need to call Sky to join. There is no equivalent offer for TV. The social tariff now lasts for 24 months and then reverts to the full cost but if you’re still eligible you will then need to re-apply.
