Re: No Wifi upstairs

Ok I have found my old Sky WiFi booster and set up and now I have full signal in every room in house.

Thank you everyone for your help and helping me understand that the service Sky have provided is not identical to previous package. Already sent them complaint and conversations had with Sky Rep. probably will not come to anything but at least I now know why.

Re: No Wifi upstairs

@Samjo53If there is nothing different and you had it before, then it should be the same again!

Re: No Wifi upstairs

If it was I would not be asking why it is not reaching upstairs

Re: No Wifi upstairs

It is identical hub in exactly the same position with cables exactly as they were in last hub and in fact we have no kids now living at home so less people using yet I still have no WiFi upstairs. Fine downstairs yet before it would reach attic where the kids have gaming consoles which worked fine.
So either they are not giving us identical WiFi speed to not be able to reach upstairs.

Re: No Wifi upstairs

@Samjo53 Did you have or use any other equipment before like sky Q, sky Mini's, sky boosters!

Re: No Wifi upstairs

Yes we had Sky Q downstairs and sky in the attic. WiFi also worked in all bedrooms and attic - gaming.

@Samjo53 the Sky Q boxes act as wifi extenders hrnce the reduction in coverage you will need to get extenders to replace thdm. Either buy Sky's WiFi Max bundle see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max or do as Indid buy a cheap whole home wifi set up.

Re: No Wifi upstairs

But it was turned off upstairs as they used tv for gaming.

I thought WiFi was guaranteed through house?

Re: No Wifi upstairs

@Samjo53 The sky hub alone can only push the signal so far, the sky Q box when it has power on it acts as a hotspot booster, same with the mini with power on it also acts as a hotspot booster, so you have THREE sources all combined in a mesh extending the wireless signal throughout the property. Your posting is just so vague that nothing you put is off any help so not much the Forum is going to be able to assist you with.

The problem is and the word you use is  ""had"", so best to clear that up!

Re: No Wifi upstairs

And that's where you say they had power so when they were switched off at the socket so no power to extend WiFi. As I  stated WiFi is not being provided to reach whole house only lower levels. I was assured with the change to sky streaming that my broadband would not be affected

Re: No Wifi upstairs

@Samjo53 Now it's getting easier, the fact you now say you went sky streaming then YES everything has changed, you NO longer have the extra BOOSTER so need to supplement the two units that got removed.... Whoever told you it would not change was WRONG in that statement! If you have in fact removed the sky Q and now have what they call pucks for the TV units then extra is going to be needed!

@Samjo53 pretty obviously Q boxes which were not powered would not extend the WiFi however the main Q box and any others which were powered would have done. While it is very unlikely that you have a dodgy Sky hub but it is possible so if you can definitly exclude issues from the position of the hub and Sky Q hot spots that would appear to be the only explanation.

Re: No Wifi upstairs

Sky hun is in same position and is new hub. Due to kids leaving home and cost changed to sky streaming but was assured my broadband would not change and would be in every room! So I will now re get hold of Sky and get a WiFi booster as suggested but I am annoyed that I was told it would not affect. It's just time that should not be wasted honesty at the beginning from Sky would have been better
