From reading this thread there appear to have been a number of unrelated issues which with 6 million customers across the country is almost a dead cert at any one time

 

Loss of connectivity from around 12 midnight to roughly 5am is normally due to routine maintenance and upgrade work which is essential and is programmed to be run over night to inconvenience the minimum number of users. Whereas major planned work maybe flagged on the status pages much local work will not indeed Openreach often dont warn their customers like Sky in advance. .if lines are back to normal in the morning it can be assumed that was the cause. However if issues still continue call Sky this morning.
