New to sky

Hey, I am new to sky and signed up yesterday as they finally came to our area with super speed fibre etc and before we could only have virgin media and they were charging explicit amounts for their internet as it's the only one customers here could get... Anyway my order got accepted going by the emails etc and I have a date for it to be fitted by an engineer, I paid the £5 upfront fees but just wondering if this is actually going to happen before we cancel with virgin, I tried previously to sign up to virgin as a new customer (as my partner is the owner of the house and I moved in with him a few years ago) and they declined because of my credit history... My question is if we cancel with virgin what are the chances sky will come back with a credit history thing of we can't have it? Or does my order being placed and the fact I have a activation date suggest everything is going okay? Thanks in advance for any help.

@Nisham30Sky have already done the checks for your broadband contract and so would seem that you are okay. As for Virgin you will have to cancel that yourself, so if you want to leave it in place till Sky is activated you can do so.

Re: New to sky

Thank you! Fingers crossed! I had all my contract stuff through when I went to sign for virgin and then a few days later they emailed me and said credit check had failed I was like.. great 😞 lol! However I seem to have got much further with sky so I'm hoping for the best. Thanks for your reply.

@Nisham30 it is not uncommon for dates to slip where a new Openreach fibre line has to be installed therefore I would suggest not cancel your Virgin connection based on the date Skybhas given you. A lot depends on how fibre works in your road as if the fibre is going to run from a telegraph pole its usually simpler then where the connection is underground. However snags can delay things for example its more complex to run overhead lines across roads or through trees .which may only become clearcwhen the engineer is on site.

If you can afford it I would suggest cancelling Virgin once your new Sky line is in and working.
