New sky max router feels worse & very limited. Any advice for me?

My old router came with the sky glass TV in 2021, worked fine downstairs, weak signal upstairs but things usually worked ok, we live in a tiny house, so upstairs is like 50ft from the router.

Contract needed updating this week & we saw the sky max router, got that, why not right, evertworks better apparently. Came today, set it up, numerous issues.

Router is in the exact same place as the old one, speed upstairs is faster but signal strength is 40%, it used to be 52%, so it's worse. My Xbox used to be open nat, upnp turned on, worked fine. Now it shows moderate nat so limits matchmaking quite badly, & the only things I can find about upnp is turn it on in the sky router, so another problem.

The router login 192.168.0.1, is now a totally new interface, it has very limited options, there's no upnp option, no maintenance page, you can't even change your internet channel. I even changed the router password from the default set of random code, & a few devices it logged in fine, others say incorrect password.

Very frustrated right now, I've had huge issues with sky glass (ongoing) & now this. I just wanna sit down & game, not much to ask for is it 😞

Any advice is welcome

Adminstration of the Max Hub is carried out in the My Sky app.

Thanis but those are the same settings as in the online version at 192.168.0.1, just less options. There's still 0 upnp on/off & no ability to change WiFi channels. It's super limited in what you can do & not nearly good enough.

@Nawwti

UPnP should be there.

You are correct that there's no option to unsynchronize and rename the bands: that's not an option on the most recent EE Hub either.

Yeah I'd have thought so too, all there is on the app is port forwarding, dmz, disabled WiFi & WiFi security level, there's nothing else. Opening those nodes is create a new port for port forwarding, create a dmz, turn off WiFi & change security level either high, medium, low, & medium blocks all P2P stuff so no gaming or video apps like what's app.

From what I've read people have said it's on by default but all my devices say no upnp.

Regarding WiFi channel, every guide suggests to change to a low traffic channel in your area, & I always could change between 1-13, now there's no option & it's on 1 by default like everyone else's, this causes congestion in evenings & weekends.

That app is utterly useless.  I'm paying SKY extra every month for something that is restricted for my use. How would I set up a static IP address?

It's very limited indeed. It seems to work better than the older model, but the lack of customization isn't great.
