Had broadband fitted yesterday. I know it can be up and down for a while, but it's dropping every 5-10minutes. Is that normal? Also, I think my master socket is just a normal one, with no filter. Should I have a filter attached to my set up? The engineer left it off and when my connection drops the auto sky prompt shows me 3 set ups and none look like what I have.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Michael+C007 if your master socket has only one outlet then you need a line filter - the lead Sky supply wont plug in without one. If the socket has two outlets it is prefiltered. It is not normal for the line to drop and indicates an issue which you should report to Sky. Speeds can take a week or so to settle and a brief line drop in the early hours is part of that process.
