New router

I've been told by another broadband provider that I should get a new router every 2 years

That might be the case with this other broadband provider but isn't the case with Sky as they will not send you a new one if it isn't needed for any reason.

Re: New router

Thanks for replying, it's just I had a broadband provider come around the door and they asked me how long I had my router and I told them I had it years, they then said all broadband providers replaced routers every 2 years , if thats the case with Sky then so be it, perhaps they were saying that to try and influence me to change provider.

Simply not true.  A new model might be released every three to four years, but typically that would overlap with at least one previous generation (if not more)

Given the big ISPs have millions of subscribers, imagine how wasteful (and expensive) it would be to replace hardware on a fixed two year cycle.

@Walnanglo1

I'd observe the BT Smart Hub 2, still their mainstream model, was released in November 2018.
