New message about a Superfast FTTP order

Hello

We ordered an upgrade to the Superfast package (on ADSL right now) on the 27th October and were given an install date of 8th November by the agent. I was told that now they can only provision these packages over FTTP so need OR to come and do a brand new install.

 

Yesterday in my Sky account we received the following message: 

 

Hi, just a quick update on your order.

Openreach have advised that your order is still waiting on a suitably skilled engineer to complete external work. Once this has been completed your order will then progress. Don't worry, your billing for broadband and talk won't start until your services have been activated.

We will contact Openreach again and provide you the latest update on 16/11/2022.

 

Has anyone come across this before? I've not spoken to customer services yet (will do later) but thought someone could shed some insights into what happens next. I haven't seen anyone from OR at or near my house either. Does this likely mean that it will take some more time in order for OR to get things ready and actually do the installation work? 

 

The BT Wholesale website suggests the FTTP install process is 'KCI2 Assure'? From what I have read up, sometimes OR can do a pre-visit to ensure that everything can be connected up but I've not seen anyone or been contacted by them directly and I thought my install would just go through today (8th Nov). 

 

Any insights would be helpful!

@nishasingh9It looks like Openreach are proactively changing some customers who are only going to superfast with FTTP. Have only seen a few instances of this happening. Kind of future proofs your property for later along the line.

Openreach have added more exchanges to their "FTTP priority" list so any new provisions will be FTTP even if the property has an existing FTTC connection. This can add another level of delay when someone wants to switch ISP's especially for a 2 stage install or installs that require a survey first.

Thanks for the info above! 

 

I've now seen that on the BT Wholesale website, the install process for mine and neighbouring addresses has now changed from "KCI2 Assure" to '1 Stage".

@nishasingh9So that is a cable pull from the junction box in the ground or from a near by pole if you broadband comes in that way to the edge of your property.
