New customer query on Broadband Hub

Hi all I've taken out a Gigafast broadband package recently I'm just wondering which Hub I  can expect to receive, will it be the white WiFi Max Hub or the standard black one. Would be grateful if anyone knows as I'd obviously prefer the latest model, and the advisor on the phone didn't seem to know. Cheers guys 👍

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

I might be wrong, but I seem to recall reading on here that only the white one is capable of gigabit speeds.

@Anonymous

Both the Sky Broadband Hub and Max Hub have gigabit ethernet chipsets

@matttyp

New subscribers should get the white Max Hub.

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

Yeah according to the Web page it says that the Gigafast package includes the latest hub, but on my email about the broadband order it says Hub 4.2 which I believe is the older one. The lady I spoke too on the phone didn't seem to know much about it. Maybe I'll try calling again see

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

Well my broadband is due to go live tomorrow and I have received the black Sky Broadband Hub, I'll see how it performs and may have to call and see if I can get a WiFi Max Hub sent out instead.

I think on the website it states the Gigafast package should include the latest hub, guess they have low stock or something. I ordered the package alongside a new Sky Glass 65" subscription so maybe that had something to do with it.

Will keep the post updated with how it goes

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

@matttyp When you ordered the package, did you do it all online, or via a sky advisor on the phone, it makes a difference to what you did and the answer to any questions regarding Sky Max, boosters, guaranteed speeds throughout the home, no to these, then you more than likely got fixed SR203  Hub. That extra cost some refuse, but as you say it may have been a stock issue, but you should have been told that at the time. I point blank refused a sky Max router as was not having any off this you have to use a app to control a hub, what a load off tosh.

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

Hi yeah I placed the order over the phone, gave them a call yesterday and the guy I spoke to said the Black Hub is Wifi Max and they don't manufacture the White hub anymore, not sure if that is correct or not. But thought I'd post here to help out anyone in the same situation. Not to worry either way I plan on getting a 3rd party WiFi 7 Mesh system later in the year anyway. Appreciate all the replies 👍

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

@matttyp With the statements you are making it is not in the least bit helpful, the SR203 Black hub been around now for 5-6 years, and the SR213 White hub a few years, anyone reading the post may end up being confused, the phone conversation you have/had is the unknown, anyway good luck when you decide what mesh you are going to get at a later date. Nothing wrong with the SR203 it is just a typical ISP based router.

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

Hi yes model number is SR203, guessing that's not the latest model then, clearly the guy on the phone wasn't correct. May have to call again and ask to speak to a different advisor

Re: New customer query on Broadband Hub

Yeah looks as though the advisor was incorrect as the hub is SR203, he did state that they don't manufacture the White hub anymore, not sure if I'm just being fobbed off however. Will try calling again another day and see if I can speak to someone who knows what they are talking about

@matttyp Sky have said nothing to the forum superuser group about stopping issuing the SR213 the white Sky Max hub. I think they may have a stock shortage as we were told new Sky customers would get the newer model while Sky Broadband customers upgrading would keep the SR203. Unfortunately the policy is you get the hub you are given with no customer choice.

Its not the first time where a customer service agent makes things up to get customers off the phone
