New build installation query
Hi
We moved into a new build property in February. The house has no telephone socket but does have hyperoptic and open reach fibre broadband pre installed with routers.
We were under contract with virgin and so moved with them, whilst there was a duct for the fibre the engineer couldn't install through that and so drilled through the external wall. We haven't been impressed with the virgin stream system and the move process with them was horrendous.
As a result we are looking at moving provider in the new year. The last time we had sky broadband it came through the phone line. How would the install work- could we use the open reach fibre into the house and/or open reach router to save drilling through wall again?
thanks

Sky FTTP would be delivered to an Openreach ONT (presumably it's not actually a 'router') if there's no CityFibre availability at the address.

Re: New build installation query
Hi, thanks for your quick reply.
i think you may be right, I've never heard of an ONT but I think it is the Nokia one at the bottom of this page https://internetservices.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000842772-fttp-openreach-ont
Does the sky router just plug into this then?
I have also checked and no we don't have city fibre in this area. Just open reach, virgin and hyperoptic fibre to the property
thanks

Yes, or the router from any other ISP using the Openreach optical network.

@AT2021 This is the latest Nokia's that OR are using, yes sky hub port4 wan connection to the ONT lan port there is only one on the latest!
Get yourself a longer Ethernet cable to stick the sky Hub where you need it. Picture will be enabled to view once it is checked and approved!
The Nokia ONT from OR Openreach!

Sorry clicked post before finished. Thank you both.
the position isn't too bad I hope it's in the utility which is pretty much in the centre of the house.

Re: New build installation query
@AT2021 Sister has that with her new build, 4 external ethernet ports about the home all met in a multi socket panel in the utility cupboard, wired up her EE Smarthub + in there and livened up all the socket's, worked out OK, the Router managed to get enough wireless wi-fi signal about fine, worked out best for her that way!
