New broadband installation in existing property

One of my housemates is leaving and I'll be taking out a new contract with Sky.

Currently we have sky but he'll be cancelling it, what happens when the engineers comes? there's already a fiber connection to the house and phone line(no phone, no idea if it even works). Will they just turn up and then leave when I tell them I can plug in the router by myself when the current tenant leaves?

He is oing to cancel his account after mine goes live so we don't have any disruption

@jojo77m Unlikely that is going to happen as you cannot have two active accounts for broadband at the same address with sky!

As @JimM1 indicates, that's not possible when staying with the same ISP.
