New Home - OpenReach ONT

Moving to a new property

has an OpenReach ONT box inside the property

Does sky broadband connect directly to this? Or does sky need to run there own fibre connections etc

Sky, like all the other Openreach client ISPs, doesn't operate any fibre itself.

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

@RogueSavage

"UG Duct rodded and roped"

So an Openreach optical fibre is going to be installed through an existing duct which is known to be clear of obstacles and contains a draw cord.

That gets the connection as far as the bottom of an external wall, from where it will go through a newly drilled hole to inside the property.

Thank you

There is an OpenReach ONT box on the inside of the wall in the property

so i assume I just connect the router direct to this?

and all should work ok

Oh, hang on.

"ONT exists with no active service"

That's why you were initially told you don't have to be in.

Is there any sign of either an Openreach ONT or a space where one might have been?

That's correct, yes.  Check there's a power supply for it.

Re: New Home - OpenReach ONT

Ah that makes it alot easier then!

all new to me, as I've been with a different supplier for 17 years but they don't supply the new house

so I was looking for options, a few friends advised a different broadband supplier but from what I've read they would run there own hardware etc and I don't want that.

So easier I can get sky and just have it all as 1 package

appreciate the help!
