I've just upgraded from 300mb fibre to 900mb. Whilst doing so I also upgraded from the old black sky hub to the new sky max hub.
The old fibre stayed rock solid and only fluctuated between about 290 and 300. The new faster speed and new hub have all the same devices connected as before, yet the speed fluctuates massively. The lowest recorded is 23mb and the highest is 912mb. Running back to back tests I’ve just got 138mb, 767mb and 377mb accordingly. No new devices came online/offline at any point and the fluctuation is common across all devices. The Sky app says I’m connected at 912mb at all times in the service checker.
I know Wi-Fi has its limitations but unfortunately some devices in the house are impractical to wire up so do rely on it. I’d be happy with the losses over Wi-Fi if it just stayed stable. I just can’t understand why the 300mb was stable under the same circumstances yet the 900mb can, at times, perform worse than the 300mb.
I’ve contacted Sky who are sending out a booster but even the guy on the phone said it’s highly unlikely to solve the issue but to try anyway. Anyone else have any ideas what the issue could be?
