New Build Property – No Broadband Showing for Postcode (Openreach Connected)

Hi everyone,

 

I’ve recently moved into a newly built property in the UK, and there has never been a broadband connection at this address before.

 

The property is connected to Openreach infrastructure, but when I enter my postcode on Sky’s website, no broadband services are showing as available.

 

I would like to set up Sky Broadband, but it seems the line may need to be activated or installed first.

 

Has anyone experienced a similar situation with a new build?

Can Sky arrange a completely new line activation via Openreach, or is there anything specific I need to do before placing an order?

 

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

@thetanzz Run your full address in the folowing checker Openreach Checker which queries the same database Sky use.

I've moved the post with your full address in it out of sight.

 

Until the BT Wholesale database has a listing for the address, no Openreach ISP can supply broadband there.

@thetanzz thatnmeans the postcode is not yet on the Post Code database which is a first step your developer should have done that but I think you can do that yourself here https://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/update-your-address

Okay, I did it through Royal Mail, hopefully I can get internet connected soon. Thank you so much for your help.

I also wanted to add this. I have an Openreach box installed at home, and I was told that once I purchase an internet package, it will be activated. When I enter my postcode on the Openreach website, this is the screen that appears. I hope this helps.

That's a statement of intent rather than confirmation of actual availablity.

 

Unfortunately the presence of hardware (including an ONT) doesn't itself get you broadband because without the necessary database entry there's nothing for an ISP to use in processing their order for wholesale provision of a live circuit.

Thank you very much for all the helpful information you’ve provided so far — I really appreciate it.

 

I’ve now registered my address on the Royal Mail website. At this point, is there anything else I need to do from my side, or should I just wait for the systems to be updated?

 

Would you recommend that I periodically check the BT or Openreach systems for updates, or will I be notified once everything is ready?
