NETGEAR Nighthawk Router (XR1000) - AX5400 to connect to skybroadband

Hi,

Can I directly connect my NETGEAR Nighthawk Router (XR1000) - AX5400 router to master socket for telephone and internet.

My Netgear info says below; asking modem or gateway.

  • WORKS WITH ALL INTERNET PROVIDERS: Replace your existing WiFi Router (separate modem or gateway required). Compatible with any Internet Service Provider up to 2Gbps including cable, satellite, fiber, DSL and more.

Many thanks for support.

By the way if you have a mastersocket prefiltered with seperate phone and broadband ports you can still use you landline however you would need a vdsl modem to plug the router into

@Engr  It needs to support MER (Option 60/61) for Sky FTTC in the UK

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: NETGEAR Nighthawk Router (XR1000) - AX5400 to connect to skybroadband

I've just installed a Netgear xr1000 and updated it to the latest firmware 1.0.0.64_1.0.49 but I can't get it to connect fttc via my DrayTek vigor 130 modem (the modem worked fine with BT and xr500 a few years back).

How do I enable dhcp option 61?

Re: NETGEAR Nighthawk Router (XR1000) - AX5400 to connect to skybroadband

I've now been able to get the Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 to use 'DHCP Option 61' and connect to Sky Internet.

I had to do the following:

Go to 'Settings\Setup\Internet Settings'

Then set 'Does your Internet connection require a login?' to 'No'

Then the 'Client Identifier String (Option 61)' box will appear at the bottom of the screen and I entered abc123@skydsl

Issue resolved.
