My phone internet connection cuts out when I'm upstairs in my house

As above. I'm only 8 - 10 metres from my router, but my signal strength is very low and sometimes cuts out on my phone. The phone switches over to my device data allowance and this is not ideal. I had no trouble at all with my BT internet connection so please explain. Thank you.
