None the less, 'testing' over WiFi isn't actually a test.

@WhackyWill Strange i swapped FF500 to FF500 and had NO difference whatsoever, Fibre speed just the same as before with the different supplier!

Re: My Broadbans speed is rubbish.

@WhackyWill Can you repeat the test closer to the sky hub if that is ok?

Re: My Broadbans speed is rubbish.

So why bother with it and they make apps to test the speed,  the speed of what then ?

Largely the local wireless environment (which is not the same thing as broadband) and the devices at each end of the WiFi link.

Re: My Broadbans speed is rubbish.

@WhackyWill No problem was not sure how you were distance from the sky Hub or what other wireless wifi or Ethernet connected devices would have been in play at the same time!

Noticed the phone posted Pic you did, had not all the wifi bars, but that could be a iPhone thing, speed needs the device to do it and be latched on the 5Ghz band, the sky Max is way up there at times CH152 reported but analyzer need to see where it's at!

Re: My Broadbans speed is rubbish.

Just the normal 55" Glass a laptop and iphone can't see that just dropping it down to that level.  Here's the best i've had from 150 never seen anything over 100 and 100 is rare.

Re: My Broadbans speed is rubbish.

@WhackyWill Have the same 5G from sky sim in my Samsung A54, but on wi-fi it sits and shows me Wi-Fi6 connected at 1200Mb/s, so on a FF500 i hit that as a 500/70 every time, unless there is a slowdown on the Internet side which there is no control over! No sky Equipment on all Asus Router's and AI AP's!

Sounds good. Maybe it's because I live in Central London that it **bleep**. 🙄

Re: My Broadbans speed is rubbish.

Testing over WiFi is a perfectly valid test

someone using a mobile phone to access the internet over WiFi is a use case after all.

that ping latency is high.

if this is a DSL connection you can replace the filter part on the socket, some dont age well

What solid objects are between the hub and your phone on the desk? WiFi signals lose power or are blocked by solid objects in the path. A thin layer of metal foil will block 100% of the signal, a masonary or concrete wall will reduce the signal significantly etc. Ensure the hub is out in the open on a surface above obstructions like radiators to get ghe best signal.
