Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Matt28 if Sky are doing the install Openreach will have already run the fibre line from the pole to an external connection point on your home. The Sky engineer will talk to you about where its practical to install the ONT then install the unit and drill a hole to the outside and run the optical pigtail from the location of the ONT to the connection box then cut and weld the pigtail to the incoming fibre from the road.
Both Openreach and Sky engineers do this work in the home dependent on availability but only Openreach will work on the poles etc. AFAIK.

No, both Openreach and sky are booked to come on Tuesday. I'm just hoping they run it the same way as everything else.

@Matt28 I ordered Ultrafast last Thursday and the Openreach chap came on Saturday to pull the fibre through to the house, so this part is normally done ahead of the main appointment. He bought the fibre up to the current entry point and bundled it up inside a waterproof casing. He explained that on the internal installation day another Openreach techy will come and basically put the ONT wherever I want it within reason as long as it's near the Router location and a power source...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Nigelb1972 sounds like you have a straightforward install where the engineer could use the ducting the copper line used which is not always the case.
The final install maybe an Openreach engineer or one of Skky'sSky's own team or indeed a third party sub-contractor all are used depending on availability. The ONT can be fitted broadly where you want excluding internel walls or where the fibre feed would require running over the roof etc. Sky say the hub has to be under 2 metres from the ONT but in practice it can be anywhere you want as long as an ethernet cable can be run between the the two without losing speed.

Job all complete full fibre installed.
Was a breeze. It was a Openreach engineer that did all the work. Helped with feeding the cable etc. not sure why they say 10m cable, they have 30m or 50m cable with one end pre terminated.
Getting speeds of around 140 at the moment, not a bad increase from around 30.
Thanks for all help

Glad it all went smoothly @Matt28 ... I've been super impressed so far. The Openreach engineer turned up unexpectedly 2 days after ordering to pull the cable through and Sky have lodged the transfer with BT. BT have even told me how much the cancellation charges will be and they're a lot lower than I was expecting 🤣... I've even had one of the retention mods reaching out to me on the BT forum... I've never felt so wanted yet also cheated on ...
