Moving to Sky From POP Telecom TPlink Archer VR1210v_D14E Questions
Hi,
Considering moving to Sky, our line is copper and we are on 60MB dEAL WITH POP, we cannot get full fibre, I think they could have to dig to push fbre to the house (no outside BT grey connection). Sky have a £23 deal with phone calls over IP.
We have a TPLink TPlink Archer VR1210v_D14E router with phone socket could this be used? I have a DECT phone using normal copper line, would this plug into Sky router or is there an adaptor, would a need a new IP phone, and can I retain old number (not vital)?
Many Thanks
Andy

@Andy347 You have to use the Sky supplied hub as they will take the whole line, and you should be able to keep your number but until you check then that's an unknown, but it will go Digital and plug into the Hub now, if sky can supply the service to you. No reason to not use your Tp-Link you just have to decide what is best for you and how you wish to connect it but it is NOT doing the landline for sure.
Landline is your MAIN issue!

Possibly for broadband, but definitely not for Sky Talk Internet Calls.

Yes
or is there an adaptor
No
would a need a new IP phone
No: an IP handset won't work without an entirely separate VoIP account from a specialist supplier.
and can I retain old number (not vital)?
In theory, yes, but it's not guaranteed.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
