Move Digital Voice number to new Provider

HI, I want to move away from Sky's Digital Voice service but keep the broadband service, main reason is I've switched router to my own TP-Link to get Wifi 7, and have more control over the connection,  so can't just plug my phone into the router anymore, so need to move to a different Voice provider, when I ask Sky about moveing to a wires only service they say I can't. Surely I should be able to cancel/transfer my talk service

@Essex+ZX7R No you cannot, you want to do that then your broadband and the whole shooting match is a cancellation, you should have sorted out voip service first with your number!

Re: Move Digital Voice number to new Provider

I have had my broanband for nearly 2 years, didn't know 2 years ago that the Sky hub was going to be as bad as it was.

@Essex+ZX7R

The Sky Talk landline service is bundled with Sky Broadband so cancelling one will definitely cancel the other.

The only way I can see this working is if there is an Altnet provider such as Virgin Media, CityFibre etc in the area, place an order for a new service with them(don't use the One Touch Switching), once service is installed then port your Sky Talk number to a VOIP provider which will cancel your Sky service.

Unfortunately no other providers in the area. Fibre provider got to the end of my street and then bypassed us.

@Essex+ZX7R You can always wireless router the Tp-Link on the back off the sky Hub clamping the hub down apart from Landline and the DHCP service, allow the Tp to do everything else. You may not come across many problems. Other way is Port your number away to the voip provider you select, lose the broadband once the number is over and provider say's good to go restart the sky BB service again and during the down period work out best way for you to keep internet going, sky will assign you another number no phone connected so who cares and you put you Tp direct on the ONT/Fibre and TP takes care off the voip and it's adapter for the service!

@Essex+ZX7R  In that case the more risky way of doing it is to switch to another OR ISP , when signing up select don't keep your number option, at the same time port your number to the VOIP provider, you new ISP should be able to setup you up with a new  number while cancelling Sky.

This will be your only option if you wish to use VOIP with your current number.
