Map-t protocol removal

Ive been sent here by the customer resolution team ive had an ongoing open complaint since 2026. My samsung s25ultra has wifi calling and was working seamlessly until last year. Ive tried everything to resolve but no one will help me. I constantly get either no service or emergency calls only in my home and rely on my wifi calling to use my phone.

Ive now gone and got a paid sim card from another provider one that doesnt use the 02network to find that upon disabling my sky sim the wifi calling comes up immediately and works. I cannot get anyone at sky to help me resolve. Ive searched everywhere online and im not led to believe that the Map-T protocol on the hub could be causing the issue but cannot get anyone to test disabling it for me let alone help me. This is now my last resort before I cancel all my sims and move to another provider I cannot continue with not being able to reach even emergency services reliably and im sick of being left vulnerable.

Re: Map-t protocol removal

I think Sky should investigate this at network level, including the way the router software is configured and managed.

MAP-T is not simply an isolated customer-side setting. It is part of the way Sky’s network and its routers handle IPv4/IPv6 traffic.

This is particularly relevant because the router software and network technologies used by Sky’s different national operations may share common components. If the same or closely related router software, firmware components or network configurations are deployed across different Sky markets, a problem in the way certain traffic is handled could potentially affect customers in multiple countries.

For this reason, I don’t think these reports should automatically be treated as isolated problems with individual mobile operators or devices. Sky should investigate whether there is a common issue in its network architecture, MAP-T implementation, or router firmware/configuration that could be affecting services such as Wi-Fi Calling.

The fact that similar problems are being reported by Sky customers in different markets makes a Sky-side investigation particularly important.

Perhaps be aware that Sky has had MAP-T deployed for more than two years in the UK, and considerably longer in Italy.  The Max Hub (which is the only widespread UK model that triggers MAP-T) was released in 2023.

Re: Map-t protocol removal

Well if its not that what on earth is causing the issue? Ive tried apple devices, 3 different sky hubs the max, the q and the prev black hub, ive tested 3 seperate samsung phones as well im at a loss yet soon as I switch my sky sim off and switch to another providers esim not using the o2 network it comes back on and works for wifi calling. So what is the block for wifi calling with sky?

Re: Map-t protocol removal

@TimmyBGood

Just to add another example: this issue is not limited to Sky customers in the UK.

There are reports of the same kind of Wi-Fi Calling problems from Sky WiFi customers in Italy as well. For example, this discussion on the Italian FibraClick forum specifically concerns VoWiFi not working when connected through Sky WiFi Italy:

https://forum.fibra.click/d/44372-vowifi-wind3-non-funzionante-con-sky-wifi

This is particularly relevant because it shows that the same type of problem is also occurring in Italy, with a different Sky operation and a different mobile operator.

Therefore, I don’t think this should be considered an isolated case or simply attributed to a specific mobile operator. The fact that similar issues are being reported by Sky customers in different countries and with different mobile operators strongly suggests that there could be a common factor on the Sky side.

This is why I believe Sky should investigate its network and the configuration and software of its routers. The fact that the issue is manifesting both in the UK and Italy is a strong indication that this is not just a coincidence or a single customer’s setup.

Hi @Emon2

I've posted a reply in the other thread, as we need some further information and need to escalate your problem to our network team.

Thanks
