Major delay disappointment with installation

Ordered sky tv and broadband on 27th November as my Virgin contract expires soon. My original date for going live was 10th December, (sky sports and Netflix for Christmas, whoopee ). Just had engineer visit to assess the need to drop a fibre cable from the pavement box some 15 metres through a lawned garden to the house. Same procedure as Virgin carried out and took the best part of 30 minutes to achieve. What a laugh. Within 30 minutes of his visit my startup date is now 17th Feb 2026 Two months and one week after the original date. If I had have known that, I would not have bothered. Why can't sky be honest in the first place and say that it may take up to 3 months instead of the two to three weeks that they state in their help forums. As a result I have now got to pay an increase in my virgin contract from £32 to £73 until I am switched over. Not a happy Bunny.

@BLT1 because timeframes vary and are dependent on openreach availability and scheduling which sky has no control over

some customers do only wait two to three weeks it all depends on what works are required to make the connection and openreach availability within the area

Virgin can choose to bodge their own private network installation in the interest of speed and cost savings if they see fit to do so because it only affects them and their customer.  Openreach, as the national supplier, isn't going to do the same: they don't permit 'direct-bury' FTTP drop-cable on their network because that potentially impinges on every client ISP which subsequently provides broadband at the address for the next century or so.

@BLT1 Why did you wait and not use the early switching offer that sky has? Also 90 day's is included in the e-mail for delayed or complicated installation delay's!
