It takes 6-8 days for sort an account Technical Issue to be resolved

Ok my folks Sky Booster box in kitchen has stopped working, they had a power cut a few weeks ago due to severe weather and it resulted in the booster box failing..I only just got back from working away and they asked me to help (they aren't very good with tech)

They can't watch Sky in their conservatory or in their bedroom now

I have tried resetting the booster box, and restarting everything but it stays with a solid green power light and nothing else.

I called Sky on their behalf today and they ran through the normal obligitary checks, and ended up needing to send a new Booster.

She then told me they couldn't order it, as there was a 'technical glitch' on their account, and she was required to fill in a form and will take 6-8 days to sort. Meanwhile my folks are left without Sky TV now in their further away rooms (thick walls as old house)

Surely a glitch doesn't take that long to fix, and is there anything else I could buy to help them in the meantime?

They do also have old electrical wiring, so I'm not sure if using the router ethernet to plug, then plug ethernet to their Sky box would work..

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Lisa88 a direct ethernet feed should work as woulld a powerline networking kit thst sends data over the mains wiring.

@Lisa88 Now you have done the factory reset and the Power light solid green confirms, switching it off leaving a couple off minutes, back on again do you get to the outer 2 lights, power and wi-fi both on and green once it boots back up takes a few minutes to get to that state!

No I don't get anything, just a solid green power light...

I tried also holding down the reset button for like 30 seconds and when it eventually booted back up, again as above

@Lisa88 If it is not coming up to the Power and the Wi-Fi both green then sounds like your SE210 has failed and will no longer function, if it is still covered under sky they should swap it out for you as a faulty unit, that would be a call to sky to arrange though no other way to do that! You could just try to WPS pair it to the sky main hub, you never know it just may be the Wi-Fi light led that has failed.

Two units together within a foot off each other press wps on the hub, look at the light on the wps button will flash orange, same on the SE210 booster, will take upto 5 minutes for it to pair together, worth a try!

If it does pair fine, connected light will go green in the middle!

Yep tried connecting directly to the Router or the living room Sky box using the WPS

Unfortunately the walls are too thick and when the conservatory Sky box searches to connect it ends with a fail.

I shall just wait for Sky to call back, pretty annoyed they take 6-8 days to sort an account glitch, seems rather odd

@Lisa88 Unless you sit them both next to each other they will never pair over any kind off distance even if the wireless wi-fi was working.

Is there no way to connect manually to the router and then connect the booster?

Without using WPS

I had the router and booster sitting right next to each other while trying to get the booster to work using various techniques

Re: It takes 6-8 days for sort an account Technical Issue to be resolved

@Lisa88 If the wireless wi-fi side is gone then it is a useless device, the other method is connect an ethernet cable from the SE to the SR and go through the WPS method same way as before, it try's to use the lan connection to set it all up!

The sky issue you may have is the booster is so old now, the account may no longer have boost on it and sky are struggling to deal with how to get and replace that SE210 for you!

Say what you seen with regards to the wps buttons for BOTH did they flash / not etc both unit's, if the SE210 is toast because off the powerfail it is GONE!
